Pastor's Biography

Pastor James Jones was raised by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie West. He received his adolescent education from the Detroit Public School System. Afterwards, he attended Wayne State University where he earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work.

On July 21, 1990 Pastor Jones married the love of his life, Carol Atkins. They have been married for 30 years and have two wonderful children: Jasmine and Devonté Jones.

Pastor Jones was ordained as a Deacon at the age of 12 at New Greater St. John Baptist Church under the late Pastor B.T. Johnson. He was called to preach at the age of 21, by God, and licensed to preach by Pastor Albert Marks Jr. of the New Greater St. John Baptist Church on Sunday, November 9th, 1986.

He was ordained under Pastor Howard Hayes of the Central Peace Baptist Church on November 12, 1995. Pastor Jones and his family joined the Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Twymon in 2001 where he served as Youth Pastor for six years.

Pastor Jones is passionate about working with the youth. He currently works as a Clinical Case Manager and has over 30 years of experience working in the Child Welfare system. He also is very passionate about working with the elderly. He preached for over 12 years every second and fourth Saturday at the St. Michael’s Nursing Home. He was saddened that the facility closed, but cherishes those memories.

He was called to serve as Pastor of The First Glory Missionary Baptist Church on August 3, 2011. Pastor Jones’ motto for living is, “If I can help somebody, as I pass along, if I can cheer somebody, with a word or song, if I can show somebody, how they’re traveling wrong, then my living shall not be in vain.”
